A celebration of the working waterfront brings visitors close to boats, gear, and the people who keep the working waterfront alive. At the festival, you can tour boats, see exhibits and competitions, sample and feast on local seafood, visit vendors and more! There are even kid-specific activities like a fishing tournament, games and crafts and a bounce house area!

Fishy 5K Fun Run

Run the Fishy 5k or Dock Dash fun run through historic Hatteras Village. sponsored by Hatteras United Methodist Church, The event will begin and end at Hatteras United Methodist Church and loop through Hatteras Village. Runners and walkers of all skill levels welcome! Come enjoy a morning run before the festival!
demos and docks chats

There are demonstrations and informational chats for every member of the family, young or older. Among them have been techniques in net fishing, and net hanging and a fascinating look at the life cycle of a blue crab. Commercial and charter boat captains are scattered along the docks showing their boats and demonstrating their equipment, and fishing techniques.

Seafood Throw Down

Seafood is the reason we are here. Our water men harvest an enormous variety of seafood from the Atlantic Ocean and the Pamlico Sound. During Day at the Docks two brilliant chefs appear on the stage for the Seafood Throw down. presented with a “secret ingredient” selected by jeffrey’s seafood, the chefs create a dish that is judged by a panel and a champ is chosen! great fun for all!

day at the docks hosts a variety of vendors and exhibitors at the festivalthat offer unique gift items, art, food and more. Our Community and educational exhibitors display and share goods and services that benefit our community, island and its people and offer information and resources for the public.
Children’s Activities

Children delight in the activities that are available for them. Events such as the Coast Guard Boat tours joined with activities like making a Fish-print t-shirt, enjoying snow cones, children’s concerts and bounce houses ensure there is never a dull moment. There’s even a fishing tournament right on the docks! Registration is at Jeffery’s Seafood and fishing starts at 1pm.

Blessing of the Fleet

The commercial and charter fishing fleet based in Hatteras village is the core that unites the seven Hatteras Island villages.most island families have current and/or historic ties to the industry and the island communities gather once a year in solemn prayer for their safety at sea and their successful catches.
Chowder Cook Off

This event is a perinniel favorite of the festival! benefitting the hatteras island cancer foundation, local chefs and restaurants prepare their version of chowder.attendees get to taste chowders as they want and vote for their favorite chowder! win, win! bellies of chowder for some, bragging rights for others!
Main Stage events

Performances will be ongoing on the main stage all day on Saturday.schedule and lineup will be posted here as the festival nears. Expect a rousing variety of music, informational sessions and discussions. A highlight of the day is our cooking competition, the seafood throw down where two local chefs compete, preparing a seafood dish using a secret ingredient! fishing tournament awards round out the day!
